Melamchi pipeline hindering the Internet service of KMC

We all know it very well that Kathmandu is facing water scarcity as the major problem. We are often informed by the Melamchi Drinking Water Project that has been running very long where Katmandu valley will be provided drinking water about 170 MLD from the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk district.

The construction is being continuous, due to which another problem in the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality (KMC) has arisen. The people over the valley have been encountering difficulty in using the free internet service provided to those places. That was set three months ago by the KMC in association with World Link communication in seven different public places comprising Pashupatinath area, Balaju, Sankha Park, Swaymbhu, Bouddha and Hanuman Dhoka Durbar area.

This plan of free internet facility in public places was made for the convenience to the foreign citizens. All connected devices are now provided with the capacity of 10 Mbps. It is estimated that around 200 people have been using this facility on daily basis.

Also, “KMC is planning to install the free internet connection in many other places,” said Dhruva Kafle, chief of KMC Information and Technology department.
