NAC (Nepal Airlines Corporation) to add 13 large airplane in next 5 years

This is to be informed that NAC, Nepal Airlines Corporation has recently prepared a roadmap to acquire 13 large planes in coming next five years in which five will be wide body and eight will be narrow-body planes.

According to the managing director of NAC, Mr. Saugat Ratna Kansakar, in order to expand the presence of the airlines in the international field, the NAC’s executive committee had approved a five-year plan. He informed that the demand for international flights had been growing recently. Also, this plan will help them to address those demands. However, the plan is still to be forwarded to the NAC board for the final approval.

Moreover, NAC has also planned to add more international destinations as before it has only flights offerings to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Doha, and Dubai. The total cost estimated to fulfill this plan is around Rs 70 billion.
Kansakar also informed that the airline is planning to request the government to provide funds for increasing their paid-up capital to Rs 20 billion which is now Rs 160 million. He also said that the airline could also aid in increasing tourism in Nepal.

This five-year plan includes the expanding of the airline’s domestic fleet to twenty and involves purchasing four more 72-seater ATR planes for trunk routes. The domestic flights are being carried out with six China-made and two Canadian Twin Otter planes at present.

Recently, NAC has also bought A330-200 wide-body aircraft with two 274-seats from Europe-based Airbus company. The international flights are being carried out with a Boeing 757, two Airbus 320-200 narrow-body and a new wide-body aircraft.
