Nepal has received an Honorable Mention (HM) at the 14th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA2021). The event was held in Bogata, Colombia during November 14-21, 2021. The event included 298 students from 47 countries. Yubraj Bhandari, a student of Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School, Butwal-10, Rupandehi, received the Honorable Mention (HM) for Nepal.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IOAA2021 was held in hybrid mode. The academic committee was operating from Bogata, Colombia while the participating countries gathered at one location. And, all of them stuck to strict guidelines from International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA).
Nepal had two teams; Main Team and Guest Team. 10 students were selected from the 8th National Astronomy Olympiad 2021 (NAO2021) from different provinces of Nepal. Suresh Bhattarai and Manisha Dwa are the two leaders for Team Nepal. In the same way, Nancy Dwa and Anshuraj Sedai are Supervisors.

The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is an annual astronomy competition for high school students. It is one of the international science Olympiads. It has three rounds namely the Theoretical Round, Data Analysis Round, and Observational Round. Similarly, it also has a team competition round to strengthen teamwork within or among the teams of different countries.
