WhatsApp soon to launch Group voice, video calling Feature
WhatsApp regularly upgrades and introduces new functions to make it more appealing to its users with the most recent ones being live location sharing, WhatsApp Business, and more.
It is inching closer to introducing the much-awaited voice and video calling functionality on the messaging platform. The latest beta version of WhatsApp has a new feature which allows calling option on groups. WhatsApp introduced voice and video calling features back in 2015, but it has remained exclusive to one-on-one conversations.
Unfortunately, WhatsApp for iOS may get it after Android users receive the feature. Prolific WhatsApp early beta release watcher WABetaInfo spotted the feature first. This says that WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.18.39 will have the support for new video calls. The Group video and voice calls have been on the wish list for WhatsApp users for a long time and this might bring relief for a lot of users. The support for video calls will basically offer a new option to add participants to a group call. WABetaInfo claims that WhatsApp for Android users will be soon able to add up to three participants in Group video calls which means a total of four people can be on Group call simultaneously.
The second screen shows the group members who are participating in the call. Next, to the contact names, there’s a video option which can be tapped on to add those members for video call. This feature will possibly give group administrators the authority to add whichever members they wish for voice or video calls.
WhatsApp has also been testing the option to switch to a video call during a voice call at the same time. This will enable WhatsApp users to switch from voice to video calls without disconnecting.
WhatsApp is used by one billion people around the world every day is set to get a host of new features this year. The company after rolling out WhatsApp for Business is also expected to bring UPI-based payment support to its chat platform. Another feature in the pipeline is WhatsApp’s ability to edit sent messages.
For the group calling on WhatsApp, you have to wait for the final build, but if you want to try it right now, you can download from the APK Mirror website, the latest beta version.
