So the journey has divided among all the provinces to bring the girls forward and make them capable to bring positive changes and development over the country.
This time, Nepal has launched a “Girls In Tech” campaign to combat gender disparity in Province 2 in Janakpur on 5th Feb, Wednesday. The project is launched in collaboration with UKaid Skills for Employment Programme, Genese Cloud Academy and Fusemachines Nepal. And also, with the joint inauguration of Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Ray Yadav, Chief Minister of Province 2 Lal Babu Raut, and Lisa Honan, Head of DFID Nepal.
Additionally, Baljit Vohra, Team Leader of UKaid announced a scholarship scheme for 10 girls who come from economically week families to study Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence. And the first scholarship was given to a 14-year old Jyoti Singh. She is one of the youngest programmers in Nepal. She said, “I am really happy now about such a scholarship scheme on AI and cloud Computing in Nepal and receive the scholarship. These courses will be very much valuable to shape my career. Like me, I am sure it will be very much helpful to other girls too in the region.” Moreover, there he opened an application for the remaining 9 seats.
Panel Discussion
The launch ceremony was followed by a panel discussion on “Women in ICT in Nepal – Challenges and the Future” where Anita Phuyal, Executive Director of Genesis Solution, Aruna Sharma, a Teach for Nepal fellow, Jyoti Singh, one of the youngest programmers of Nepal, and Ankita Yadav, Assistant Lecturer at Rajarshi Janak University were the panelists. The panel discussion was moderated by Melisha Ghimire, Managing Director of Girls in Tech-Nepal, and Stuti Basnyet from UKaid सीप.
Girls in Tech released a Press statement. In that, they clearly informed that they want to focus on school and college girls in technology through this campaign. They are going to provide proper training to the girls so that they can involve themself in the tech field. This will also end gender discrimination and provides a better environment for girls in technological sectors.

This campaign is happening in more than 36 countries along with more than 100,000 members. And today, it has become one of the most reputed campaigns. It has the ability to bring out the girl’s power in front of the world. In Nepal, this Girls in tech chapter has started in November 2019.
