According to insider That_Kartikey, the details about this new chip remain scarce. While it is unclear whether Small Surge refers to the phone’s main processor or another component like a camera or AI module, the prospect of Xiaomi reviving its in-house chip production has sparked curiosity.

Xiaomi first entered the chip market in 2017 with the Surge S1 in its Mi 5c smartphone. Unfortunately, the project was discontinued due to high costs and low returns. Since then, Xiaomi has relied on third-party chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek. However, a Bloomberg report in 2024 suggested Xiaomi could be reigniting its chip development efforts.

Earlier leaks from Yogesh Brar, a credible source, suggested that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra would feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor (previously rumored as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4). This creates conflicting reports, as Brar’s track record for accurate leaks outweighs Kartikey’s.
