Hack Fest Kathmandu 2019 to be held on November 30

Organized by Frontenders Community Nepal & Women Leaders in Technology Hack Fest Kathmandu is coming with a full-day hackathon event where students imagine, design, develop, and present a product from scratch (and win cool prizes).

The event is titled by Sagarmatha College of Science & Technology and Sagarmatha Engineering College.

The purpose is for teams to take an idea from inception to completion and present their completion. Hack Fest Kathmandu is a platform where the student community will come together to constitute innovative resolutions that solve real problems. Students can make a mobile app, web app and any variety of software with the help of qualified & experienced mentors and like-minded peers.

Recently Hack Fest Kathmandu has successfully accomplished five events including Hack Fest Pre Event (Team formation / Ideathon) for the Main Hackathon Event which was held on November 30, 2019, at Leapfrog Technology, Charkhal Road, KTM.

Prizes & Awards

From the side of platinum sponsors Genese, every attendee will get $75 of AWS credits through the AWS Educate program and up to $500 AWS credits for attendees with startup companies.

Hack Education
Create apps that will contribute to the classroom.

Build anything that contributes to resolving youth employment issues.

Hack around music, writing, and art. Younger students could build simple apps that play songs. Older students can play with Text-to-Speech and auto-tuning.

Create something that contributes to resolving social issues like inequality and discrimination by means of technology.

FAQs

Who can participate?
We are focusing this hackathon for the high school students related to IT. So, if you are a bachelor level student or just completed your bachelor’s degree, you can join the hackathon. A team of great mentors will be there to advise and guide you each step of the way to complete your project.
How big can be a team?
You need at least 2 members to form a team. You can form teams of up to 5 people. Most teams aim to have a mix of people with both design and developer skills.
What if I don’t have a team or an idea?
Not to worry, most people don’t! We’ll have team formation and ideation events geared towards helping you find people to work with. You can join our Facebook Group to find potential teammates.
What should I bring?
You should probably bring a laptop and a charger.
What is the cost of the event?
The cost of registration is Rs. 300 per participant.
Do I need programming experience?
Hack Fest Kathmandu is a great way to begin your programming experience! A basic understanding is recommended, but we will have mentors to help you make your project idea a reality.
How can I get involved if I am not participating?
If you’re looking to be a volunteer or mentor (i.e. someone with technical skills who’d be willing to help out participants during the weekend), you should reach out to us in our Facebook Group.
