NEA official bill payment portal and submit a meter reading online

We all are familiar with the current situation due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. It has hampered our lives very badly. At this time, we cannot go out for our work, it seems everything has paused for a time. In this situation, we are unable to pay any commodities. Among all commodities, paying an electricity bill is harder. Well it wasn’t harder yet meter reading became a difficult task to track.

Neither meter reader can reach our home nor we can stay in a long queue as it increases the risk of COVID-19 is getting even harder. But as a result, we cannot pay an increased bill amount at once. It also increases the Nepal Electricity Authority’s financial crisis.

So to solve this problem, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) created a partial automation system to check the bill and pay it. With this system, customers can read their meter and make the payment by themselves. More than 60 distribution centres in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Butwal, and other areas have been connected to the online billing system.

How to submit electricity meter and pay bills online?

  • Navigate to https://consumer.nea.org.np
  • Click on “Register tab” to register as a user for the first time
  • Enter the customer’s name, email, mobile number, and password
  • Click on the “Submit” button

Now, your user ID is ready to use.

NOTE: Anyone can make their user ID. You need to have a meter. You can even pay the bills of your relatives and parents or others.

Now you have to log in to your user ID to make payments.

How to login to the system?

  • Go to the home page
  • Log in with your registered mobile number and password in the login panel
  • A new “Consumer Registration Form” page will open
  • Click on “Add Consumer”, and select the relevant distribution
  • On the next page, enter DCS name, your customer ID, and customer number
  • Click on the “Submit” button

In this way, the customer ID is successfully added to the system. In case you have more than one meter, you can add more customers by clicking the ‘Add Consumer’ button.

How to insert your current meter reading to the system?

  • Go to consumer list and click on your consumer number
  • OR, Click on “Click Button”
  • Online meter Reading Entry Form will open, fill your current meter reading to its respective field
  • Click on “Submit Button”
  • Capture the clear photo of your meter
  • Click on “Browse Button” and upload the photo of your meter

After verification, you will get a “Reading Inserted Successfully” message. It means you have successfully sent your current meter ready into the system.

Note: The picture of your current meter reading is compulsory for verification.
