Kathmandu, Dec 28: Police are preparing to file a case against all the riders who vandalized the Pathao office. The riders, who had gathered at UN Park at 10 am on Monday, chorused slogans in front of the Pathao office in Mid Baneshwor at around 1 pm.

At first, the situation became normal, and the atmosphere for talks became normal, but then the riders suddenly vandalized the office with stones and bricks. The vandalism has shattered almost all the windows of the office. Asheem Man Singh Basnyat, regional director of Pathao, said that he was not sure how much damage was caused inside.

He said that all the riders involved in the riot would be traced through CCTV cameras and the police would be informed.

“We identify all the riders through CCTV cameras and suspend them from sending them forever,” he told.

He said that the incident was aggravated as the police did not take the agitation seriously even though the administration was informed about it in advance.

“I had requested for security at the CDO office and the police premises along with a screenshot of the comments written by the riders in the group yesterday. But initially, the incident happened due to the small number of police, ‘he said.

The agitating riders had submitted an 11-point demand letter to Pathao Company last Monday. Riders and passengers should have compulsory insurance, the ride-sharing commission should be reduced to a maximum of 8 percentage, riders belonging to the company should be informed by the company before the suspension, customer care number should be toll-free, BPG suspension should be removed, spent records should be kept, both rider and user passenger should ride. There were demands including reconciliation.

The riders gave the company an ultimatum on Monday to meet the demand within a week.

Where Pathao published nine-page notice from their side earlier today at 10 am regarding their policies.

Stating that the reply to the demand letter submitted on December 22 has not been received till December 29, they have pelted stones and vandalized the company.

Pathao had given an explanation on their behalf at 10 am today.
