The Redmi 6 Pro is the first phone of Redmi series with a notched display. Redmi 6 Pro comes with a 5.8-inch Full HD+(2280 x 1080, ~432ppi, 19:9 aspect ratio) IPS LCD display. The build and design of the phone are almost identical to that of the Redmi Note 5 except that notch on the screen. The notch on the display can be hidden with a black bar on the top, from the settings.
Moving onto camera department, Redmi 6 Pro has a vertically aligned dual-camera setup, same as in the Redmi Note 5 AI. The primary camera is a 12MP shooter with 1.25μm pixels, f/2.2 aperture(PDAF, Auto HDR, and EIS), paired along with a 5MP depth-sensing camera with f/2.2 aperture. It can record normal video up to 1080p@30fps and slo-mo video up to 720p@120fps. At the front is a 5MP selfie camera located on the notched part.
The Redmi 6 Pro houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 SoC (octa-core). It is sad to see Xiaomi using the same old processor time and again on its latest devices too. The graphics department is handled by the Adreno 506 GPU. Redmi 6 Pro comes in three variants in terms of memory, 3GB RAM/32GB storage, 4/32 GB and 4/64 GB. The Redmi 6 Pro also has a dedicated microSD card slot, which means that users can use two SIMs and a microSD card at the same time(the hybrid SIM slot was so annoying, thanks to the dedicated SD card slot).
The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery. It has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, a micro USB port(no USB Type-c, disappointing), dual nano SIM slots, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9. The phone has AI-based Face unlock system as another biometrics method of security along with the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Redmi 6 Pro has 5 color variants: Stone Black, Sand Gold, Cherry Blossom Powder, Bali Blue, and Flame Red The 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 999 ($153), the 4GB RAM/32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1199 ($185), and the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1299 ($200). You can pre-order the phone in China but the sales will begin from June 26.
