Tablets were introduced in order to fill the gap between smartphones and laptops. But these days we rarely see companies launching new tablets. Tech giants like Apple and Samsung are among the company to give continuity to their tablets line-up. Seems like Xiaomi also wants to keep standing among them as Xiaomi recently announced their new budget-friendly tablet with some premium features. Mi Pad 4 was announced in an event in China along with their new smartphone Redmi 6 Pro.
Xiaomi is always on point when it comes to making budget-friendly devices. The Mi Pad 4 sports an 8-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio of 16:10(1920 x 1200, ~283ppi). The device is run by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Chipset which is certainly a good processor in the price range. It comes 3GB and 4GB of RAM with 32GB and 64GB of onboard storage respectively. The storage can be expanded up to 256GB with the help of Micro SD card slot. It has a full metal build and houses a massive 6000 mAh battery. Mi Pad 4 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.0 on top.
The Mi Pad 4 is equipped with a 13MP camera on the back with f/2.0 aperture with HDR and is capable of recording 1080p. At the front is a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture which comes with AI face unlock. Both the front and the rear cameras come with beauty mode. The Mi Pad 4 has AI FACE UNLOCK as the only biometric authentication, and yes it lacks the fingerprint sensor. The device will be available in two connectivity configurations: Wi-Fi only, and 4G LTE and Wi-Fi. The latter will be a bit expensive. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and comes with Bluetooth 5.0 which is simply amazing.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is available for pre-order in China, but the company will begin the sale starting June 29. The base model of the device with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB memory is priced at CNY1,099 which roughly translates to $170. The 4/64 GB version without and with LTE supports are priced at CNY1,399 (approx. $215) and CNY1,499 (approx. $229) respectively.
