There are many apps that are collecting Facebook logins through fake authentication. All those collected information are sold to dark web buyers. Its results are far from your imagination, it could be more dangerous. Hackers can use such credentials to log into unsuspecting users’ social media accounts and can leak their personal information.
One of the French cybersecurity firms, Evina said, “There are currently 25 apps that steal the credentials of Facebook users”. So to protect the user’s data, the firm reported about these apps to Google. And the good news is, Google has taken action on it and removed these apps from the Play Store.
Now no one can download these apps. But if any of the users have already those app on their device, they need to uninstall. As per the report by Evina, these apps have 2.34 million downloads. This is really a huge number. So, all the users are requested to uninstall these apps In addition.
One of the interesting facts about these apps is that all these 25 malicious apps come from the same group. All these apps make a fake authentication page through which it steals the user’s Facebook log in data. These apps work brilliantly to open a page that looks similar to the Facebook login page. They convince you to enter your Facebook details. And as a result, they will get all your login details.
So, thinking about the privacy of the user’s account, Google has now deleted these applications from the Google Play store.
